THE BALANCE ROUTINE
July 1, 2025

Hi friends,

This week I felt great as usual—experimented with some fun summer drinks, kept my eating nutrient-dense and simple, and honestly just enjoyed food without overthinking it.

But one meal completely knocked me out.
Left me bloated, cramping, and feeling like garbage for the entire next day.

It was a good reminder that even when you think you're making decent choices, the quality and preparation of your food make a massive difference in how your body responds. I want to share what worked beautifully this week and what definitely didn't, because the contrast was pretty striking.

I've spent years dealing with various health issues, and I've noticed that the most profound improvements often come from the most straightforward approaches. This week exemplified that perfectly, and I want to share exactly what I did because it might be useful for you, too!!

Here's what I ate, why I think it worked so well, and how you can adapt these ideas for your own life.

The Week That Proved Simple Actually Works

Cucumber Tuna Boats

Ingredients: Cucumbers, canned tuna, mustard, avocado, lemon juice, salt, pepper, quality chili oil, red jalapeños

Instructions: Cut cucumbers in half lengthwise, scoop out seeds to create boats. Mix tuna with mustard, mashed avocado, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Fill cucumber boats with mixture, drizzle with chili oil, top with sliced jalapeños.

This combination addresses several things simultaneously: high-quality protein that maintains stable blood sugar, healthy fats that support hormone production, and anti-inflammatory compounds that reduce systemic stress on the body. The jalapeños contain capsaicin, which improves circulation and has analgesic properties.

Grass-Fed Beef Patties with Homemade Everything

Ingredients: Grass-fed ground beef, avocado, red jalapeños, mixed greens, honey, olive oil, Dijon mustard, salt, pepper, lemon juice, oranges

Instructions: Form beef into patties and cook in a pan until done. Make dressing by whisking honey, olive oil, Dijon, salt, pepper, and lemon juice. Serve patties topped with sliced avocado and jalapeños, with dressed greens and orange slices on the side.

This meal sustained me for over five hours, which tells me the macronutrient balance was appropriate. The grass-fed beef provides bioavailable iron and B vitamins essential for energy metabolism, while the avocado contributes potassium and monounsaturated fats. The oranges supply vitamin C, which enhances iron absorption.

Shaved Steak Salad

Ingredients: Sliced steak, mixed greens, red jalapeños, avocado, honey-Dijon dressing (same as above)

Instructions: Cook steak in a hot pan with ghee, duck fat, or lard. Assemble salad with greens, warm steak, sliced jalapeños, and avocado. Dress with the honey-Dijon mixture.

I used the same dressing here because it worked perfectly the day before. There's something liberating about not reinventing your approach every single day—it eliminates decision fatigue and ensures consistency with nutrients your body responds to favorably.

Beef Chips with Avocado

Ingredients: Quality beef chips, avocado, red jalapeños, salt

Instructions: Mash avocado with a pinch of salt, top beef chips with the mixture and sliced jalapeños.

This satisfies the desire for something crunchy without resorting to processed snacks that typically contain inflammatory oils and synthetic additives.

Watermelon Cayenne Sorbet

Not the best quality photos - I had to snap them from a video!

You're getting 4 more recipes below, including my new summer sorbet that tastes incredible and the natural electrolyte drink that's been my daily obsession. Plus, the exact meal that made me feel like absolute garbage for 24 hours.
